My Philosophy
I believe in supporting your journey of healing and self-discovery through catharsis, clarity, and confidence:
Catharsis: You know how people talk about “vent sessions?” Well that’s what I provide to you - a safe, contained space for you to release all your deepest, rawest emotions so we can process them to understand your inner dialogue, struggles, and fears. Sometimes it just feels good to talk to someone who can truly listen without giving you unsolicited advice or judging your choices.
Clarity: We all could benefit from more clarity in our lives. With this in mind, my clinical work aims to help you clarify who you are, what you want, and also where you’ve been. I like to say that I’m a dot connector - I identify connections between your past and present, between your relationship with others and your relationship with me, and between your thoughts and behaviors and the goals and values by which you want to live. This means, sometimes I call you out on your BS, sometimes I challenge you to think differently, and sometimes I ask the big, scary questions that no one else wants to ask. And, I always do this with your best interest in mind.
Confidence: I’m not only alluding to task-based confidence - the “wow, I’m really good at this” type of stuff - although that might be one goal of treatment for you. When I say confidence, I mean firm trust in yourself and your ability to go through life in an inquisitive and resilient manner. If we don’t have trust in who we are and what gives us meaning, life feels much harder to navigate. I want you to find yourself in our therapy sessions. I want you to love who you are and see yourself the way I see you - resilient, dedicated to growth, and welcoming of self-awareness. It’s a process, and I would be honored to walk alongside you on your journey of self-discovery.
